Govt.Dental College & Hospital, Jamnagar, founded in 1991.We provide education to diverse students to prepare them to practice dentistry in the 21st century with knowledge and understanding of many different patient populations, dental specialties and varied practice settings. The education occurs in an ethical and professional environment in which quality dental care is provided to our patients.

The College presents a dental council of India curriculum, which provides excellent clinical training, integrates the health sciences with clinical experience and utilizes modern technology. Our success is based on maintaining a strong faculty and staff, supported in their commitment to teaching and administration, professional development, scholarship, research, student service and community service.

Since its beginning GDCH, Jamnagar has played an integral part in the development of oral health care services and dental education. The college has an outstanding reputation for its clinical teaching programs, exemplified by its graduates, and for its research and service programs that have impacted oral and general health locally, nationally and internationally. I am very proud to have become a member of this family.

We are situated in the heart of city and have the benefit of a large pool of patients who seek care at our clinics. Additional training in patient care is gained during assignments at affiliated hospitals and at externship sites in various locations throughout the state.

B.D.S. Course

As per new rules of DENTAL COUNCIL OF INDIA, Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree is awarded at the successful completion of five academic years (4 years of study +1 year of internship)of intense and certified study in dental care.
     The objective of the course is to train and to educate students with every finer aspect of dental care with help of lectures, seminars and conferences by dedicated staff and faculty. The course is offered here at Govt.Dental College & Hospital, Jamnagar. The college is affiliated to Saurashtra University.

Duration: 5 years (4 years Study+ 1 year of Internship)

Intake Capacity : 100 seats

About Us
Government Dental College and Hospital is one of the best Government institute in Gujarat state. It is the only academic government  dental institute in the region of Saurastra and kutch, which is committed to provide dental health care par excellence at reasonable cost for  the majority of the population of  developing rural areas which bares the total population around 1.5 to 2 crore.

 It was the object of promoting habitation in the area and also to provide quality dental care, that Govt. Dental College and Hospital was established by Govt. of Gujarat 21 years back, affiliated with Saurastra University. Hence this institute is purely granted by government.

It is expanded in the area of around 2 Acre and infrastructure wise this institute is very well planned and maintained. Location wise this institute is at the heart of the town and easily approachable. Currently we are having undergraduate seats out of which 85% are fulfilled by state merit and 15% by all India merit system. The seat expansion is under process since last three years. The postgraduate programme is also under process.

We have all the clinical as well as non clinical departments in well functioning and well maintained condition with well equipped and well efficient faculties.

The hospital campus also accommodates the hostel facilities for around 500 students. The hostel premises also include food court and specific areas for sports and other recreational activities.
This institute is also collaborated with M. P. Shah Medical College & Guru Gobindsingh Hospital (with 1400 bed capacity & 225 students per year) run by Govt. of Gujarat.
